“Listen to the mustn’ts, child.

Listen to the don’ts.

Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossible, the won’ts.

Listen to the never haves,

then listen close to me…

Anything can happen, child.

Anything can be.”

FAQs

  • A Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who provides comprehensive, evidence-based healthcare for women throughout the lifespan, with a focus on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, gynecologic health, and newborn care.

Midwife Michèle holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing with advanced education in nurse-midwifery and women’s health. She provides a full spectrum of services, including prenatal care, labor and birth support, postpartum care for both mother and baby, newborn assessments, well-woman care, and gynecologic examinations.

As a licensed independent healthcare provider, Midwife Michèle is qualified to diagnose and manage normal pregnancies and births, prescribe medications, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and perform a variety of office and birth-related procedures. She works collaboratively with obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals whenever consultation or higher levels of care are needed.

Her practice is rooted in the belief that pregnancy and birth are normal physiologic processes. By combining evidence-based medicine with individualized, relationship-centered care, Midwife Michèle strives to support healthy mothers, thriving babies, and confident families. She is passionate about empowering women through education, informed decision-making, and compassionate support, ensuring each family feels seen, respected, and cared for throughout their journey.

  • Midwife Michèle brings over 33 years of experience in roles such as mother, midwife, nurse, newborn transition/resuscitation instructor, veteran/military spouse, and fitness & yoga practitioner/instructor to her work. She has worked in the hospital as a NICU/Adult ICU/Postpartum/Labor & Delivery nurse, a Perinatologist’s Office as a Nurse Practitioner managing Gestational Diabetes & High Risk Pregnancies, and in the Home, Birth Center, and Hospital as a full scope midwife. Passionate about midwifery and holistic health care, she honors physiological processes and client choices, while also being skilled in managing complications to ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients and families.

  • At Lavender Moon Midwifery, we believe every family deserves care that is personal, compassionate, and rooted in trust - whether you are planning a home or hospital birth. By intentionally keeping our practice small, we’re able to spend time getting to know you, your partner, family, and doula - your hopes, your questions, your values, and your goals for pregnancy, birth, and the weeks that follow.

From your first prenatal visit through birth and the postpartum period, you’ll receive thoughtful, individualized care in a calm and supportive environment. We believe unrushed appointments, meaningful education, and open communication help families feel confident, informed, and empowered as they prepare to welcome their baby.

Our services include prenatal care, home birth, postpartum care for both mother and baby, newborn assessments, lactation support, childbirth education, well-woman care, and same-day virtual or in-person visits for concerns such as mastitis, urinary tract infections, breastfeeding & conception challenges, contraception counseling, and selected gynecologic needs. We have prenatal and postpartum care only packages for clients that will be planning co-care with other providers for a hospital birth.

If you are planning to birth at home with us, we intentionally limit the number of families we serve and schedule home birth call for no more than ten months each year. This allows us to remain rested, fully present, and available when our clients need us most. We accept clients only when we can personally provide on-call care throughout their birth window (37–42 weeks’ gestation).

We LOVE what we do and would be honored to care for you no matter the setting you choose to birth your baby!

  • We believe financial concerns should never stand in the way of receiving exceptional maternity care. Our goal is to make the insurance and payment process as straightforward and transparent as possible.

As a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), Michèle’s services are eligible for reimbursement through most California insurance plans. While Lavender Moon Midwifery is considered an out-of-network provider for most commercial insurance plans, many families receive reimbursement for covered services after submitting a comprehensive superbill.

To help simplify this process, we partner with Mindful Billing, a midwifery billing specialist, to provide insurance benefit verification and a detailed superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. This allows you to better understand your available benefits before beginning care.

    TRICARE Members

Lavender Moon Midwifery proudly serves military members & families.

For TRICARE Select beneficiaries, covered office visits are billed directly to TRICARE. Clients are responsible only for applicable copayments, deductibles, and any services that are not covered by their plan.

For TRICARE Prime beneficiaries, a referral to Lavender Moon Midwifery is required before your first visit. Once a referral has been approved, covered visits are billed directly to TRICARE in the same manner.

We are happy to help guide you through the referral and billing process and answer any questions along the way.

    Payment Options

We accept ACH debit, Zelle, major credit cards, and AFFIRM payment plans. Discounted fees are also available for qualifying families. If cost is a concern, please let us know - we are committed to working with families whenever possible to help make care accessible.

  • Yes - Certified Nurse Midwives are independent practitioners in the state of California and can order labs, diagnose illness, and treat with prescription medication. At Lavender Moon, labs are either drawn in our office during your visit, or an order is sent to a lab close to your home for you to visit and have the tests completed. If you have commercial insurance, MediCal, or Tricare the lab processing fees will likely be covered by your insurance.

Midwife Michèle can also prescribe contraceptives, antibiotics for mastitis or UTIs, anti fungals for candida, and more when natural and herbal remedies are either not an option or allopathic treatment would be your preference.

“Birth is not only about making babies.

It's about making mothers; strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and believe in their inner strength.

  • Michèle is AMAZING! She felt more like a close friend than my midwife. I was extremely comfortable with her and she helped me feel at ease about all my concerns. She is extremely knowledgable and thorough. I was so pleased that after my baby girl was born she gave a lot of attention to her and made sure she was doing well. I highly recommend her. She goes above and beyond her role always. Thank you, Michèle!

  • Michèle, I wanted to THANK YOU for everything that you have done for me. You have helped me to achieve in my life what I NEVER thought possible...you empowered me to BELIEVE in myself and TRUST the ability of my mind and body. You gave me MUCH more than a beautiful birth and a handsome son; you gave me self-confidence, strength, and power. I will never lose those intangibles or the steps that I took to get to them and I can truly attirbute that to you. Nathan and I are so RICHLY BLESSED by you in our lives and are so appreciative of your experience, education, attention to detail, compassion, understanding and LOVE. THANK YOU!

  • Michèle was an answer to my prayers for our first birth! I knew I wanted a midwife after trying out several OB/GYNs I finally found her. I was so grateful that she was a veteran, military spouse and supported the military community by accepting Tricare. She has vast knowledge of a woman's body and worked in the NICU so she knew all about what was happening with our baby after it was born. She was also the first practitioner that included my husband in the whole process completely. The doctors had either ignored him or shushed him but Michele made sure to talk to him as well as me - she respected his role as my partner and birth coach. I cannot stress enough how much I appreciated Michele's warm encouragement and her respect for my wishes. I highly recommended her services for any mama & family!

  • Michèle is one of my favorite midwives. She is so patient, calm, loving, and practices very evidenced based care - while still empowering women to trust their bodies and make informed choices. She is particularly wonderful with women seeking post-cesarean birth options.

  • Thanks for being our midwife...I am so happy that I chose you to be there for me through my pregnancy and labor! The passion , love, and support was definitely felt. You made me see that I have a choice and that I am STRONG ~ something I wouldn't have been able to get with a provider I didn't know in the hospital.  ‍“Having a good birth is great. It helps you feel empowered. It’s the most powerful time in your life; it’s creation…

But the self-empowerment that comes with knowledge and being able to make choices that are good for you, your baby, and your family, helps put women on that path of being able to use that for the rest of their lives…”
